My wife Audrey and I will attend Awards Dinner out of respect for all the new inductees, but especially for Bob Plaia and Sal LoStappo. Coach Plaia was my Junior High School wrestling coach and inspired me to wrestle. I wanted to win for my coach Mr. Plaia. His teams were underfeated for six years, I was there for years 3, 4 and 5. I have always cherish the years I wrestled for Coach Plaia.
I coached with Sal LoStrappo at Seaford High School for 19 years. I have never met a coach like Coach LoStrappo. He was the most intense, mentally tough guy any kid could want as a coach. Sal got the most out his wrestlers, just be the toughest kid on the mat he would say and you will be a winner. “Heart, Soal and Passion” was Coach LoStrappos motto. That is not only how he coached, it is how he lives and breathes.
Neil Murray, former Seaford Wrestler and Coach.
I am attending with many of the NYCWOA in support of Ton Fauvel. Tom has been a leader and major contributor to the NYCWOA for as long as I have been a member and deserves my support.
I am attending this Awards dinner in honor of all the new inductees. I have had the opportunity to work with Tom Fauvell during his years at Herricks High School. I have always admired his dedication, civility, and work ethic. I am so grateful that our paths have crossed in this wonderful profession.
We are attending this award event in honor of Anthony Schettino. He is a role model to all. He has dedicated his time and energy to wrestling and the many many children he’s inspired a long the way.
Congrats to all the inductees but a special congrats to Coach Ray Adams! Coach Adams has been an inspiration, a friend, and a mentor to our son. As a coach, he celebrates the wins with these kids as if they were his own and takes the losses with as much pain as his guy on the mat. What’s more is how he cares for these kids both on and OFF the mat! A great guy, a great coach, and now a great friend! Congrats Ray, can’t wait to celebrate with you and your family!!!
